The choir has come a long way since we were first formed as an 'ad hoc' group in Cambridge
back in the mid-nineties. Since then we have appeared twice on television - firstly on the
Big Breakfast, which was great fun, and more recently
we were invited by internationally acclaimed composer Jonathan Dove to sing the part of the
chorus in his television opera When She Died, about the effect of the death of Princess Diana
on ordinary people, which was premiered on Channel 4 in the summer of 2002. We first worked with
Jonathan in the autumn of 2001 in his capacity as composer-in-residence at the Almeida Theatre;
we recorded his specially composed soundtrack for their production of Platonov |

directed by the inspirational Lucy Bailey, in a 'visual oratorio' called
The Fool which was commissioned by the group from Sir John Tavener.
We were delighted in December 2002 to sing the first rendition of A Christmas Laudario -
a piece specially written for the choir by Andrew Hope, one |
We have sung concerts and services at a variety of churches, theatres and concert halls across London, including St James', Piccadilly, St Bartholomew the Great, the Royal Court Theatre and St Martin-in-the-Fields, and further afield the choir has sung at Snape Maltings, Chelmsford Cathedral, Lichfield Cathedral and Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin, where we have been the visiting choir on a number of occasions. Although sacred music forms the core part of our repertoire, we also just as happy to sing opera and close harmony.
Like many other choirs, Christmas is always our busiest time of year,
in 2003 we put on carol services and concerts for five different charities -
this is usually our chance to get to meet the odd celebrity or two,
and last year did not disappoint as we got to 'rub shoulders' with James Naughtie and the
Our regular conductor is Matthew Altham, and our regular organist is Martin Toyer.
